The summer of 2020 broke all labour market records, after Romania reached the highest unemployment percentage in the last 4 years. That way, job searching has reached record peaks, especially in the last 3 months, keeping in mind that summer is generally one of the more relaxed periods of the year.
420 000 people were looking for a job in June, July and August, as approximately 100 000 are the newly registered at www.ejobs.ro. Most candidates are 25 to 35 years old, followed by the younger ones - between 18 and 24 years of age.
In the last three months, employers in Romania have created more than 90,000 jobs. The economic sectors, which are in most need of employees, are sales, manufacturing, IT&C, banking.
„The tourism and hotel industries were missing from employers' offers this summer, but we expect the return of these sectors in the autumn. In fact, we will see an increase in the number of jobs in all areas, beginning from this month", says Bogdan Badea – CEO of ejobs.ro.
In July of last year, the registered unemployed in Romania were 362 000, 58 000 less than this year. The unemployment level in the country was 4%, whereas 12 months later it has reached 5,4%, according to Eurostat.
